Qualcomm, Ericsson, Thales Plan to Introduce Space-Based 5G Network for Global Connectivity

Qualcomm, Ericsson and Thales unveiled a plan for ‘space-based network’ that will allow smartphones to communicate directly with satellites. For these, the tech firms plan to launch hundreds of satellites with 5G capabilities. Thales said a rollout of 600 to 800 satellites could begin within four or five years.
